Listening Strategies when Becoming Distractions (Stay “Tuned in!”)
- Listen for cues of fear or ambivalence
- Focus on body language if face-to-face and tone of voice/background noise if on the phone
- Maintain focused casual eye contact
- Consciously assimilate the information being heard
- Stay calm
