Healthcare workers have experienced extreme stress throughout the pandemic and as the world moves in to year three of COVID-19, it is important for practitioners to be aware of their own needs. You spend day in and day out being selfless with your patients, but who is worrying about you? If you aren’t taking care of yourself, eventually you won’t be able to take care of others properly.
Our blog series over the next two weeks will focus on a variety of topics including what prolonged stress can cause, how you can assess your level of stress and your need for self-care, how to incorporate self-care into your day, and ideas for self-care activities and practices so you can determine what might help you the most!
Before you dig into the content this week, we respectfully ask that you take three minutes out of your day today to think about these three things:
- How would you rate your level of daily stress, on a scale from 1-10 with 1 being no stress and 10 being extreme stress
- How many days per week do you take time out for yourself at some point throughout the day?
- What are your ‘go-to’ methods for self-care?
For the rest of the week and next, see if you can fit an extra ten minutes of reading time into your day so you can read our posts! This series is all about you, will be chock full of useful (and important!) information, and you deserve to take the time to digest it all!
